Lord Dick Newby
He has specialised in advising companies on the CR strategies and programmes and in putting together partnerships to deliver CR and public policy programmes. He has advised major corporates, including Avis Europe, St James’s Place Group and Smiths Group on their domestic and international community investment policies and helped them identify and work with voluntary sector partners. He has extensive experience of working with professional sports clubs, NGOs and Government to develop programmes which use sport as a tool for education and community development. He established Sport at The Prince’s Trust, which he now chairs, bringing together professional football and cricket clubs, commercial sponsors and The Trust’s work with disadvantaged young people. He is Chair of IDS (International Development through Sport), UK Sport’s development charity and an Ambassador for the England and Wales Cricket Board’s Chance to Shine programme. He became a Liberal Democrat Life Peer in 1997. He is a Founder Member of the All Party Parliamentary Corporate Responsibility Group and Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Social Enterprise Group. Dick can be contacted at:
Jane Power
These include benefit concerts for UN agencies supporting children featuring artists such as Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, G4 and Bill Wyman. In sport, she has worked with Legacy Barbados to establish Sport for Life!, the sport, education and healthy lifestyle programme for 10-16 year olds which followed the Caribbean’s hosting of the Cricket World Cup 2007. The programme is establishing a learning centre at the Kensington Oval Cricket Ground in Barbados and supports the Phoenix Academy and the Caribbean Healthy Lifestyle Project, and in 2008 will extend to St Lucia and Trinidad & Tobago. Jane has worked on high-level major events for over twenty years and has produced television programmes on FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, four Alpine Ski World Championships and three Winter Olympic Games as well as ATP and WTA Tour tennis for Sky and Eurosport. From 1996-2001 she ran the commercial activities department at The Prince’s Trust where she helped establish its marketing strategy in sport, music and fashion and co-founded the Trust’s Football Initiative in 1997 and NatWest Cricket in 2000.
